Wholesome Wednesday: 'Share A Story, Save the World'

Do you have a story to tell? Do you think you can inspire others as well?

In my line of work, I have met people from different walks of life and heard stories all throughout the years. Some of them, even at a young age, have really interesting stories to tell and can even change the world or save people's lives—like a hero.

And you don't have to be a journalist or an expert story-teller to share your information to other people. There are a lot of ways to do that, especially at this day and age of the Internet.

Also, you can attend events that could empower your story-telling skills.

See that poster above this post? (Yes, promotion!) If you're free this coming Saturday, why not join the Share a Story, Save the World: A Volunteer's Meet-up at Co. Lab, Brixton St., Kapitolyo, Pasig City at 6 p.m.?

Organized by Hero of D Day and CSR World, Share a Story will gather aspiring and seasoned volunteers from the youth sector who will share their stories to fellow volunteers.

Political satirist and advocate Mae Paner, also known as "Juana Change," will be joining to talk about good governance and social change, while CSR officer and volunteer Geoanna Corneby will conduct a writing workshop as culminating activity for the participants.

For a fee of P250, participants will get to avail of a Hero of D Day kit, a certificate, food, drinks, and or course, the invaluable storytelling experience.

Hero of D Day is a social media organization that believes there is a hero in every one. It recognizes great and small acts of heroism by collecting stories and publishing them online.

CSR World meanwhile is the youth department of Benita and Catalino Yap Foundation. The group ensures knowledge and experience of young people on CSR 3.0—Citizenship, Sustainability, and Responsibility—which are comprehensive and will enable them to be better citizens.

Hero of D Day and CSR World will concentrate on stories of volunteers and volunteerism. Through this event, they aim to inspire people on their goal of helping others and live lives worth telling stories about.
